i just read a friend's written article on his views on a recent hot topic. through much reading and research on my own, there are also certain views that i hold towards certain issues. there is always much that we can comment and talk about on issues pertaining to society or those that are close to heart/home. especially when it's in conflict with our values and the absolute truth. the world lives in a state where everything is relative. nothing is absolute, not even truth for the matter. but that's a fact because we're in a way blinded. it does seem ironic then, that truth is relative. truth is absolutely relative. oxymoron?
personally, i feel that when we get so involved in the matter, it's hard to keep our cool and also our perspectives in sight. when all we want to do is to correct the wrong, or voice our opinions publicly, arguments may result and in turn, get heated. when we're so ready to defend at all cost, we dont consider or listen to perspectives anymore. the whole battle becomes a shoot-and-hit affair that we just want our voices heard, acknowledged and reckoned with. despite being Christians, we fail to listen with patience, to correct with love and to express grace in every circumstance. even when there is a conflict in values and a difference in beliefs, how do we channel what we have for the greater good? some may feel attack is the best form of defence. i beg to differ in this case. bearing in mind that we are all in need of a Saviour, how can those who already has that privilege of being saved help those who are lost? we gather because of the gospel. the greatest weapon we can ever have would be the sword of truth.
i guess amidst this ugly secularism, it's time to ask ourselves if we're self-righteous. especially in the way we react to certain issues because sometimes we might be sending out the wrong messages to those who have yet believed, but are ever-seeing. so let's pour out grace like rain just like how we've been, and still are being showered with it daily.
